Keith's Dunker Re-Qualification

Today Keith was up at a painfully early hour of 4am as he was off to Yeovil for his dunker re-qual. As Yeovil is 3 hours away, he and another guy had to be on the road bright and early. He was back home at 2pm and enjoyed the rest of the sunny afternoon outside. This week and last has been mostly recce (reconnaissance) training which is a welcome change to computer based training, but apparently still painfully boring. During the past few weeks, I have learned about the Merlin's hydraulic system and how to spot a Russian submarine. The Russians seem to have more subs than we (Canada) have frigates. Yes, I actually do find this stuff interesting. Who'da thought!?

Incase you're interested in some of the Royal Navy/Ministry of Defense (MOD) info, here's the link. This link will take you to the Merlin Training Facility located at RNAS Culdrose.

Thanks Mandy.

These blogs, which are a great journal for you, are also really important to us back home. We miss you guys. We miss you as much as you miss us.

It's great to me away and have adventures, but it's also difficult being away from the ones you love. This blog closes that gap a little. I am so happy for you guys, happy that you are making friends and happy that you are experiencing a whole different way of life, which is difficult to understand unless you've done it. Even in an English speaking country the culture is very different. When those differences start to get you down, and they will, remember we're here to listen to that too!

I've got so much news, but this isn't the place. I have a phone card I'll call you soon. Love you both.
Angie

I thought it said "drunker re-qualification". Now that would have been good times...
