What a process to ship a parcel! Had the parcel ready to go directly to Canada (I wanted to see how much it would cost before I went through the detachment) and headed to the Post Office. Holy cow... £40! That's about $90!! Thank God for Daws Hill (the detachment)! However, there's quite the process to prepare a package to be sent through them. But well worth it! All packages have to be wrapped in brown paper, with the Canadian address on it, a customs declaration attached to it, and a cheque written out to Receiver General of Canada attached to it (this pays for the Canadian postage from Belleville to the destination), then it's wrapped again in brown paper and addressed to the Postmaster at the detachment. Then back to the post office again to ship via Royal Mail. Once the Postmaster receives it, he removes the outer wrap, determines the cost for shipping within Canada, completes the checque total, and then its loaded on the weekly Thursday flight to go to Canada. Wow! Painful, but worth it!
Got a call today from another agency asking me if I'd be interested in a Branch Manager (car rental company) position. This position is in Plymouth - 2 hours away! It's not what I would be interested in anyway - I've had enough of working at car rental agencies.
Angie called today! So great to hear her voice. It's always exciting to pick up the phone and there's a Canadian voice on the other end. We chatted for awhile, then she had to get back to work.
Not sure what the evening holds, but probably another quiet one.
